This Way Up comes to Scotland

This Way Up, the UK’s only film exhibition conference is coming to Scotland in November!

Join film exhibitors from across the UK for two packed days of thought-provoking sessions, taking place at Dundee Contemporary Arts, 30 Nov-1 Dec 2022.

The conference comes at a vital time, with BFI’s next 10-year National Lottery Strategy set to be announced in September. Led by industry experts, we will spend two days discussing the key issues which impact our sector, and considering the future.

This year’s key themes and programme highlights will be announced soon. Previous conferences have hosted discussions about programming, audiences, community building, environmental sustainability, regional cinema, film criticism, governance, national government agendas, employment practices, equality, diversity and inclusion, and much more.

TWU’s traditional additional content will return this year, including:

  • Cinema Stories, a series of short films produced by BFI FAN members, showing off some of the network’s best cinemas and exhibition projects.
  • The ever-popular Show & Share sessions, which feature mini-presentations from fellow delegates.
  • A selection of BFI NETWORK-funded short films, which showcase a breadth of filmmaking talent from across the UK (in-person only).

We’ve also got some fun, very Scottish, surprises in store. At the end of a full day of sessions, we’ll all have the chance to socialise over networking drinks.

Can’t join us in person? With an online-only pass, you can livestream most sessions and submit questions in real time.

In-person passes: £135 + VAT
Online passes: £50 + VAT

* Don’t forget – your local Hub can provide bursaries for attendance, including travel and accommodation*
