New Producers: Applications Now Open for 2026

Applications are now open for the 2026 New Producers Scheme, our paid training programme for people who’d like to develop their skills in curating, promoting and delivering film events for audiences across Scotland.

The New Producers scheme provides four paid placements for individuals looking to gain experience in film exhibition in Scotland. New Producers will work closely with their Host organisation, gaining hands-on experience in programming, marketing, audience development and delivering film screenings, alongside training from industry professionals.

The Scheme aims to support emerging film event producers, marketers and curators from backgrounds currently under-represented in Scottish film exhibition. Through practical experience, training and professional development, we hope to help address barriers to entering and progressing within the sector.

No previous film experience or academic qualifications are required – just a passion for cinema and an interest in working in film exhibition.

This is the seventh edition of the scheme. To date 28 participants have successfully undertaken the programme. Read about the events from our 2024/25 cohort and the events from our 2025/26 cohort.
