Adventures in Cinema Fund Launched

Our new Adventures in Cinema Fund will allow Film Hub Scotland members to access up to £2,000 for audience-facing activity that will engage young people across the country with film.

This fund will support your activity that helps children and young people to be able to regularly experience the fun of cinema and to enjoy a wider range of screen culture.

Who can access funding

Your application should identify how your approach will develop and/or increase family and young people screenings; how you will create fun, engaging events which inspire a connection with film.

Applications to Adventures in Cinema should also tackle barriers (social, economic and geographic) for participation by young people. Some examples of this activity may include:

  • Regular weekend film club – perhaps with a regular host or with accompanying activity guides.
  • Holiday film screenings
  • After-school film club
  • Young programmers groups/ activity
  • Community family film screenings
  • Pre/ post-screening engagement activity
  • Family-friendly neurodivergent screenings

Under Screen Culture 2033, FAN is broadening its focus to include children as well as young people, recognising the important role of early cinema visits on the health of the exhibition sector both now and in the future. By engaging with children, families and young people, you can introduce new audiences to your work and foster future generations of cinemagoers.

Applications can be for any sum of money from £200 up to £2,000. For larger scale activity, please refer to the FHS Film Exhibition Fund.

Support is available for projects taking place from April 2023 – March 2026. Projects must be completed by 2 March 2026.

How to apply

The fund is open now and funding will be allocated on a rolling first-come, first-served basis to projects that meet the criteria of the fund.
