Mentorships

Following the popularity of the BFI FAN Advice Sessions, Film Hub Scotland will now offer funding for free, extended mentorships to members.

Members will identify a key issue they are facing, and work through this over up to four sessions with an experienced advisor.

Single, half-day sessions will continue to be available through the FAN Advice Sessions. FHS Mentorships are appropriate for those who would benefit from a bit more time with their mentor, to explore broader issues or goals.

If you have a specific mentor in mind, you can name them on your application. However, this is not required. Film Hub Scotland can find a mentor who makes a good fit for your application. Mentors can be anyone from the film exhibition sector, including those involved in the Advice Sessions scheme (subject to availability).

Mentorship topics may include:

  • Archive & Screen Heritage
  • Audience Development
  • Bid Writing/Fundraising
  • Budgeting
  • Business Development
  • Covid-19
  • Equality, Diversity, Inclusivity
  • Marketing
  • Programming
  • Public Speaking
  • Staffing
  • Technical Skills
  • & more

Your mentor may be able to help you in multiple skill areas. Please try to focus your mentorship on a specific goal or problem, as this will make sessions much more productive.
